What Is a Lotus Diagram?

The lotus diagram helps break down broad topics into smaller components for easy analysis and prioritization. It’s a tool commonly used in brainstorming, studying, and creative thinking.

How to Create a Lotus Diagram?

  • Once you select your main topic or concept, pick one of Creately’s editable lotus diagram templates to get started right away.
  • Alternatively, you can also create a lotus diagram from scratch with Creately’s intuitive table shape.
  • The main topic should be added into the centre of the 3x3 grid you have created. Decide on eight subtopics to add to the blank blocks surrounding the central topic.
  • Create eight more grids 3x3 around the central grid. There should be a grid for each subtopic, which should be placed in the centre of each grid. You can use color codes or unique formats to highlight sections.
  • Add links, resources, or import images to include further information on the ideas to your workspace. You can even add labels or a numbering system to prioritize the ideas as well.
  • Invite your team members to collaborate and contribute their perspectives on your workspace through an email or invite link.
  • You can also export your lotus diagram in PNG, SVG, JPEG, and PDF format for publishing or printing.
